Patients that have metal objects such as pacemakers, infusion pumps, aneurysm clips, inner ear implants and metal fragments in the eye (the MRI’s magnet may move the metal, causing harm to the patient).
Patients that require continuous life-support equipment and patients who are pregnant.
If possible, arrive at the MRI appointment wearing clothing that contains no metal (no zippers, no under-wire bras, no metal buttons). This may prevent you from having to change into a gown for the procedure.
Remove all metal objects from your body—rings, bracelets, earrings, hair pins, dental bridges, loose change, credit cards (credit cards have a scanning bar that could be erased by the magnetic field).
